Panel Event to Mark the 10th Anniversary of the 2004 EU Enlargement
4 June 2014 -Brussels
The 10 year anniversary of the EU enlargement of 2004 provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on the contributions the EU13 countries and especially their development NGOs have made to European development cooperation and to CONCORD – the confederation of development NGOs in Europe.
CONCORD, TRIALOG, and the Latvian Permanent Representation to the EU organised two parallel panel discussions on the topic “Transformative Multi-stakeholder approaches in development cooperation with a focus on good governance and gender” during the CONCORD general assembly on 4 June 2014 to mark the occasion. Welcome and opening remarks were said by Ambassador Ilze Juhansone from the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Latvia to the European Union, CONCORD Director Seamus Jeffreson and Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs who sent his message remotely by video. The speakers and attendees of the event included civil society, Member States, Local authorities and EU institutions representatives making it possible to truly address the question of multi-stakeholder approach to development.
In the frame of the event CONCORD and TRIALOG published "10 Interesting Facts about EU13 Development Sector", download the factsheet here.
